Job description
The Systems Administrator plays a key role in supporting the Districts evolving digital ecosystem. The Systems Administrator is an effective team member who reports to the Director of Information Technology. Waterford Public Schools is seeking a candidate who is adaptable to change and willing to learn. This position is responsible for a diverse range of systems related to Student Learning, Network Operations, Security, and VOIP. The Systems Administrator primarily performs duties in the office and collaborates with the Information Technology Team to deliver high-quality, timely support and protect sensitive data for the Waterford Public Schools., Waterford Public Schools serves approximately 2,400 students in grades PK-12. Our district is actively seeking to recruit qualified applicants from a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences so as to promote a diverse applicant pool for administrative, faculty, and staff positions to better serve our students’ multiple identities and to bring a broader range of experiences into our district to continue to enhance the teaching and learning for ALL. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required, demonstrating a robust understanding of Windows Active Directory and Google Workspace (formerly known as Google Apps for Education). Applicants should possess hands-on experience in network security concepts, including AD Group Policy Objects (GPO), login scripts, policies, endpoint security, and firewall rules. Additionally, a solid working knowledge of networking and internet protocols, as well as proficiency in VMware Virtual environments and MS-SQL, is essential. Familiarity with VoIP systems is considered a plus, and certifications in VMWare, Microsoft, and Cisco are highly desired. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing multiple concurrent support issues and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to efficiently identify and resolve problems. They should show keen attention to detail, including accurately assessing problems. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential. The candidate should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and highly driven.
