Job description

BigBear.ai is seeking a CNO NetDev Developer to serve as a general-purpose CNO reverse engineer focused on network-based devices supporting high-impact, mission-forward efforts. In this role, you will design, develop, prototype, modify, and integrate capabilities that deliver mission-centric outcomes. You’ll partner closely with analysts, operators, data scientists, and software engineers to provide responsive, tactical support in a fast-moving operational environment. If you’re energized by reverse engineering, network protocols, and building innovative tooling under real-world constraints, this role offers the chance to make immediate mission impact. What you will do:

  • Augment existing toolsets to meet evolving operational and mission requirements
  • Derive, document, and analyze requirements to ensure technical solutions align with mission objectives
  • Prototype capabilities to validate concepts, demonstrate feasibility, and confirm understanding of requirements
  • Develop deployable toolsets that function effectively within operational constraints and mission environments
  • Test and oversee testing to ensure deliverables are stable, reliable, and ready for deployment

Requirements

  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain an active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience with a B.S., or 10+ years with an M.S.
  • Four (4) additional years of software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • Familiarity with Unix-based systems
  • Experience reverse engineering Linux-based network devices
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP) and network traffic analysis (e.g., Wireshark)
  • Proficiency developing and modifying software in C/C++, Python, and Assembly
  • Ability to provide sustainment/support for fielded software systems
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git and Subversion
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience supporting production CNO capabilities and operations

What we’d like you to have:

  • Reverse engineering experience on Windows and/or embedded platforms (including RTOS)
  • Additional programming experience in one or more of: Java, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, Perl, C#, Rust
  • Experience developing CNO-focused software for Linux, Windows, and/or embedded targets
  • Background in Vulnerability Research and Exploit Development
  • Knowledge of end-to-end SIGINT collection and analysis systems
