Job description

Texas Steel Conversion (TSC) is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to provide technical support to employees across our manufacturing and corporate operations. This position serves as the first point of contact for IT-related issues and is responsible for troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and user access concerns. The ideal candidate will be customer-service oriented, highly organized, and capable of supporting users in both office and industrial environments., * Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, email, remote access, and in-person assistance.

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer, mobile device, and network connectivity issues.
  • Support Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and other business-critical software utilized throughout TSC operations.
  • Create, modify, and maintain user accounts, passwords, and permissions within Active Directory and related systems.
  • Install, configure, and deploy computers, monitors, printers, mobile devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities, including equipment setup, account creation, and access management.
  • Maintain accurate records of support requests, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions within the company’s ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate IT personnel or third-party vendors while ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Assist with network troubleshooting, including connectivity, VPN, wireless access, and basic infrastructure support.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives by following company IT security policies and reporting potential security concerns.
  • Travel between company facilities, as needed, to provide on-site technical support.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and assist with asset tracking.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in office and manufacturing environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an IT Help Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support role.
  • Previous experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environment preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving computers, printers, mobile devices, and common software applications.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, user account management, and password administration.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity, and wireless networking.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple support requests and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Education & Certifications

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or related certifications are a plus.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in both office and industrial/manufacturing environments.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift to 50 pounds and install or move IT equipment.
  • Ability to travel between TSC facilities as business needs require.
