Job description

A client of Insight Global is seeking an Integrated Testing Engineer to support the validation of complex warehouse automation and material handling systems. This role is focused on executing integrated system testing across mechanical equipment, controls, and software to ensure performance, throughput, and functional requirements are met prior to customer handoff.

This is a hands-on engineering role requiring experience with mechanical systems, controls, and end-to-end system validation, including rate and functional testing.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute integrated test plans across mechanical systems, controls, and software (WCS/WES)

Perform rate testing and throughput validation to ensure system performance meets design specifications

Perform functional testing (use case validation) to confirm systems operate as intended across workflows.

Validate automated equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, ASRS, and robotics in an integrated environment

Test and validate controls systems (PLC-driven systems) and ensure proper system communication and integration

Identify, document, and track defects through resolution with engineering, controls, and software teams

Support execution of system acceptance testing (SAT) with internal teams and customers

Coordinate testing activities across multiple vendors and subsystems to ensure full system integration

Troubleshoot system issues across mechanical, electrical, and software components during testing phases

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field

2+ years of hands-on experience in integrated systems testing or validation

Experience testing automated material handling or warehouse automation systems

Strong background in:

  • Mechanical systems (conveyance, sortation, automation equipment)
  • Controls/PLC-based systems (testing and validation, not programming required)
  • System integration testing across hardware and software

Experience with:

  • Rate/throughput testing and performance validation
  • Functional/use case testing of integrated systems

Ability to troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains

Experience developing and executing test scripts, test cases, and acceptance criteria Experience with:

  • WCS/WES systems and warehouse execution platforms
  • ASRS, robotics, or automated fulfillment systems

Familiarity with multi-level testing environments (L1-L4 system testing frameworks)

Prior experience supporting customer-facing system acceptance testing

Background in large-scale fulfillment environments

Benefits & conditions

$60/hr to $62/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
