Job description

The Minnesota State Lottery is seeking a highly skilled Gaming Security & Compliance Analyst Lead to serve as the organization’s gaming security expert. This critical role ensures the integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of all Lottery gaming operations and related security analyses. The incumbent will lead complex security assessments, oversee retailer compliance programs, and drive improvements that safeguard Lottery assets, uphold internal controls, and maintain public trust.

This position functions as a lead worker within the Security Department, providing technical guidance to staff, coordinating special projects, and recommending enhancements to strengthen gaming security operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead gaming security and compliance activities, including analyses of draw operations, ticket processes, retailer activity, and internal controls.
  • Oversee retailer compliance programs, case management data, and provide guidance on physical security concerns.
  • Conduct and lead risk assessments across gaming systems and operations, recommending enhancements to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain security reporting tools, including dashboards, risk summaries, and business intelligence analyses.
  • Provide training, represent the Security Team with external partners, and recommend workflow, policy, and system improvements., The Minnesota State Lottery will conduct a criminal background check and fingerprint check at the time of job offer for all prospective new employees. The Minnesota State Lottery cannot hire any person who’s been convicted of a felony or a crime involving fraud or misrepresentation within five years of employment or who’s ever been convicted of a gambling-related offense

In addition, the Minnesota State Lottery will perform the following background checks:

  • Employment Reference Checks (includes review of personnel file for current and former State of Minnesota employees)
  • SEMA4 Records Check (for current and former State of Minnesota employees)
  • Driver’s License Records Verification, * A voluntary confidential program that helps employees and their families with life challenges that may impact overall health, personal well-being, or job performance.
  • Common sources of stress can be addressed through the EAP: mental health, relationship challenges (personal and work), grief and loss, finances, and legal issues.
  • Daily Living/Convenience Services: Chore services, home repair, trip planning, child/elder care.

Requirements

Three (3) years of experience in the gaming industry, including security systems related to gaming operations.

Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Knowledge of gaming security systems, security controls, validation procedures, and fraud prevention methods.
  • Experience working in environments requiring strict adherence to industry regulations, policies, or statutes.
  • Ability to lead team activities, coordinate work, provide direction, and support department operations as a team leader.
  • Communication skills, both oral and written, sufficient to explain complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, compliance reviews, or investigative analyses.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and operate with significant independence.
  • Interpersonal skills, sufficient to maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels.

** Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, information systems, or a related field related field may substitute for 1 year of experience., * Experience working with MUSL/Powerball standards or similar gaming industry regulatory environments.

  • Background in compliance monitoring, fraud prevention, or risk assessment.
  • Technical experience with gaming systems, business intelligence reporting, or security analytics.
  • Knowledge of relevant state statutes such as chapter 349.
