Job description

Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an IT Technical Support.

Job Overview: Your duties will include: Filtering, visually inspecting, testing and cleaning various device types of IT equipment including, laptops, desktops, screens, handhelds and mobile devices etc.

Carrying out configuration software builds and repairs on various customer devices. Work includes software builds, software updates, repairs, diagnostic fault-finding and preparing kit to be shipped to various customers. The right candidate will have experience in configuration software builds, problem-solving and fault-finding, laptop and desktop repairs, be familiar with software and hardware components of tablets, desktops and laptops. Logging issues and closing calls on the company computing system.

Liaising with internal teams whilst building relationships. You will escalate any issues with the supervisor that may affect delivery to our customers. You will be extremely well-organised in your approach to asset tracking and traceability of those assets. Location: Hatfield Hertfordshire AL10 9TW (Hertfordshire) Rate: An hourly rate, in-scope IR35, of £15.99 (PAYE) OR £20.75 per hour (via a Hays Approved Umbrella Company) Contract Length: 27 July 2026 to 27 Jan 2027 On-site Mon - Fri Timings: 04:00 PM - 12:00AM midnight

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting incidents, software and hardware
  • Resolution of software and hardware issues (laptop, desktop, mobile devices)
  • Installation of spare parts and configuration of laptops, desktops and Tablets
  • Organising, analysing and handling of tickets in the company computing system.
  • Preparing new and repaired hardware
  • Carry out warranty repairs to OEM standards following contractual agreements in accordance with ASP.
  • Escalating any potential customer SLA impacts on the relevant teams.
  • Staging laptops and PC’s with pre-defined builds
  • General housekeeping to locate and eliminate causes of backlogs to provide continuous and fluent service to our customers.
  • Assistance in specific tasks where prompt investigation and resolution are required.
  • Maintaining a functional and accurate location system to ensure precise asset management.
  • 6S Implementation and ongoing maintenance of the workshop
  • Flexibility of workload to assist in all areas of the Maintenance and Service Centre to avoid backlogs and to maintain achievement of SLA’s is essential.
  • Must be able to work on their own initiatives and prioritise workloads.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excellent Administration and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Previous knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Has held or is able to attain up-to-date accreditations with all major manufacturers including HP, Dell, Apple, Lenovo etc.
  • Previous experience of supporting mobile devices and hand-held devices
  • Good administrative experience, attention to detail, ensures accuracy of data, provides data for reporting and processing of information.
  • Previous experience working in a corporate IT environment is an asset.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Willing to take initiative and be hands-on.
  • Experience in building effective relationships and team work.
  • A confident, professional, positive, and proactive approach
  • Forward thinking and offer efficient ways of working.
  • Able to coach and mentor team members and new starters into the business.
  • Previous experience of Enterprise maintenance.
  • Able to adapt, grow and self-educate at a pace to meet the ever-demanding needs of the service.
  • Able to gain government SC clearance.
