Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Hub in East Renfrewshire HSCP for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join the Primary Care Pharmacy Team in a leadership capacity. The postholder will contribute to the development and delivery of the pharmacotherapy service across 13 GP practices, supporting safe, effective and person-centred care. As a key member of the Prescribing Team, the successful candidate will lead and support pharmacy staff, promote evidence-based prescribing, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across GP practices, community pharmacies, care homes and social care settings All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met., You will lead and manage pharmacy technicians and support staff across both hub and GP practice settings, ensuring the effective delivery of pharmacy services and fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment. The role will involve contributing to strategic planning and service improvement initiatives, helping to shape and develop the pharmacotherapy service in line with local and national priorities. A key aspect of the position will be delivering training and education to GP practice teams, clinical staff and wider multidisciplinary colleagues. The successful candidate will identify and support prescribing interventions aligned with HSCP priorities and implement agreed prescribing changes to promote high-quality, safe and cost-effective patient care. The role also includes providing mentorship, leadership and professional guidance to junior members of the team, supporting their development and helping to maintain a high standard of practice. In addition, the postholder will support medicines reconciliation activities and contribute to audit processes that ensure safe and effective medicines management. You will be responsible for developing and updating Good Practice Guides to support medicines management across services. They will conduct face-to-face medicine reviews with patients, providing education and advice to support the safe and effective use of medicines. The postholder will also respond to prescribing-related queries from healthcare professionals and patients, offering expert advice and contributing to person-centred care. Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Extensive post-qualification experience in hospital, community or primary care settings.
  • Demonstrated competence through a professional portfolio and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in IT systems and digital tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in staff leadership and management.
  • Valid driving licence due to travel requirements.
