Server Engineer

Description Our client is seeking a Server Engineer to join their growing IT Infrastructure team and take ownership of a mission-critical enterprise server environment supporting multiple locations. This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure detail oriented who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving system reliability, leading modernization initiatives, and working hands-on across server, storage, virtualization, and security technologies. The Senior Server Engineer will serve as a key technical resource responsible for designing, building, securing, and maintaining enterprise server infrastructure. This individual will partner closely with IT leadership and cross-functional technology teams to ensure systems remain secure, stable, scalable, and aligned with business needs. Responsibilities Manage and support Windows and Linux server environments across multiple locations. Install, configure, patch, monitor, and optimize enterprise server systems. Maintain and support virtualization environments including VMware and Hyper-V. Manage enterprise storage solutions, backups, disaster recovery processes, and system recovery procedures. Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability across server infrastructure. Implement security controls, system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation processes. Monitor compliance with security and operational standards. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring problems. Lead server upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and modernization projects. Automate processes and implement solutions that improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. Collaborate with networking, cybersecurity, and IT teams on infrastructure initiatives. Provide technical guidance and support for enterprise infrastructure projects. Requirements Required Qualifications 4+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise server infrastructure. Strong experience managing Windows Server and Linux environments. Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, and server troubleshooting. Experience supporting VMware ESXi/vCenter and/or Hyper-V virtualization environments. Experience with enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel. Strong knowledge of backup solutions, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies. Experience with infrastructure security practices including OS hardening, patch management, vulnerability remediation, access controls, and compliance standards. Familiarity with networking fundamentals, monitoring tools, SQL Server, and infrastructure troubleshooting. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently analyze and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
