Direct Counsel is seeking a Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join a prestigious Am Law firm in Boston, MA; Hartford, CT; Miami, FL; New York, NY; Parsippany, NJ; or Washington, DC . This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3-6 years of data privacy and cybersecurity experience to join a growing practice advising clients on privacy compliance, cybersecurity incident response, data governance, and complex regulatory matters. Responsibilities Advise clients on U.S. and international privacy laws, including state privacy laws, GDPR, GLBA, and HIPAA . Draft, review, and negotiate privacy policies, data processing agreements, and other privacy-related documentation. Counsel clients on cookies, tracking technologies, and data collection practices. Manage cybersecurity incident response matters, including data breaches, ransomware events, and regulatory notifications. Advise clients during interactions with regulators, state attorneys general, and law enforcement following cybersecurity incidents. Conduct privacy and cybersecurity due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Counsel clients on data governance, vendor risk management, data transfers, records retention, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on sophisticated privacy and cybersecurity matters.
Requirements
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Active membership in the state bar where the candidate will practice. 3-6 years of data privacy and cybersecurity experience. Experience advising clients on privacy compliance, cybersecurity incident response, and regulatory matters. Strong knowledge of U.S. state privacy laws, GDPR, GLBA, and HIPAA . Experience drafting privacy policies, data processing agreements, and related documentation. Experience with privacy and cybersecurity due diligence, regulatory investigations, or data governance is preferred. Excellent legal research, drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Benefits & conditions
