Job description

Library & Media Center Management

  • Develop and maintain a current, curriculum-aligned collection of print and digital media using accepted selection criteria, including multicultural and gender-fair standards.
  • Catalog, classify, and organize all media materials and equipment according to professional library standards; maintain accurate inventory and submit timely reports.
  • Oversee circulation of materials; supervise, train, and coordinate media center paraeducators, student aides, and volunteers.
  • Solicit ongoing input from teachers and students to guide collection development and media purchases; assist in managing the media center budget.
  • Promote a love of reading and independent learning through programming, displays, and resource curation.

Technology Support & Integration

  • Serve as the building-level point of contact for technology support, troubleshooting hardware, software, devices, and classroom technology tools for staff and students.
  • Maintain and monitor school technology assets; coordinate inspection, maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment.
  • Assist the principal and district technology coordinator in identifying professional development needs related to technology; facilitate staff training and in-service as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers to meaningfully integrate technology into classroom instruction aligned with district curriculum.
  • Inform staff and students about available technology resources and support confident, effective use across subject areas.

Information Literacy & Instruction

  • Teach information and technology literacy skills to students, modeling effective research strategies, ethical information use, and responsible digital citizenship.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and deliver instructional strategies that support information literacy across content areas.
  • Stay current on trends in education, library science, and instructional technology; apply new knowledge to continuously improve programs and services.
  • Attend relevant staff and department meetings; participate in professional growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (B.S. in Elementary/Secondary Education, Library Science, Educational Media, or related field)
  • Valid state educator’s certificate or licensure in Educational Media / Library Science, or eligibility to obtain
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an elementary or secondary education setting
  • Demonstrated experience with library systems, collection management, and circulation workflows
  • Hands-on experience with instructional technology, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and classroom devices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families, * Graduate degree in library and information science, educational media, or instructional technology
  • Experience in a school library or media center role
  • Successful classroom teaching experience
  • Background in adult training, staff development, or technology coaching
  • Familiarity with integrated library systems (ILS), learning management systems, and/or Google Workspace for Education

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Able to work indoors and occasionally outdoors. Role requires sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, seeing, hearing, and the ability to lift a minimum of 10lbs., * Bachelor’s (Required)
