Job description
This position provides engineering support to the USCENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AoR), supporting Case activities. The Systems Engineer will support the National Maritime Surveillance System (NMSS) project and other efforts working under the Lead Engineer. The C2 engineer supports the Lead Engineer by working with each Project Lead across multiple Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) disciplines, such as C2, Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), Aerostat, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Sonar, Communications Vehicles, and Microwave Communications Towers, to ensure the individual projects can be successfully integrated as C2 systems into a System of Systems (SoS) architecture., * Support the Case Manager and Lead Engineer in requirements definition, analysis of alternatives, integration, testing, training, production, installation, contracting, budget planning, and execution of assigned programs.
- Work with each Project Lead across C4I disciplines (C2, MDA, Aerostat, UAS, Sonar, Communications Vehicles, Microwave Communications Towers) to integrate individual projects into a System of Systems architecture.
- Represent the program in briefs to external stakeholders, including but not limited to Combatant Commanders, other Joint Services, Security Cooperation Communities, U.S. Government agencies, Industry partners, and Partner-Nation representatives.
- Support C2 and network integration, configuration, and troubleshooting across assigned Case efforts.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s in a technical field (engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline); no exceptions.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of systems engineering supporting Navy C4I or comparable DoD C2 / networking programs.
- Technical foundation: C2 systems and network fundamentals: LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing/switching, Windows/Linux server administration, virtualization (e.g., VMware ESXi/vSphere).
- Integration ability: Coordinate across multiple systems and program stakeholders; translate requirements into engineering action.
- Clearance: Active SECRET (required). U.S. citizenship required.
- Location / travel: On-site San Diego, CA, four (4) days per week; up to 20% travel, domestic and occasional international., * Experience interfacing C4I programs such as C2, MDA, Aerostat, UAS, Sonar, Communications Vehicles, and Microwave Communications Towers is highly desired.
- Navy C2 / COP systems (GCCS-M / GCCS-J); tactical data links (Link 16/11, JREAP); coalition information sharing.
- FMS or partner-nation experience; familiarity with NAVWAR / PEO C4I program offices; relevant certifications (Security+, CCNA), DoD 8570 compliant., * Bachelor’s (Required)
