Java Developer Newcastle Hybrid (3 days onsite) £40,000 £55,000 + Bonus Were supporting a leading technology consultancy looking for a Backend Java Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team, delivering secure, scalable solutions across major public sector and enterprise programmes. This is a hands-on development role ideal for someone with strong Java experience who enjoys building high-quality software within complex, regulated environments. What youll be working on: Designing and developing Java-based services using JDK 11+ and Spring Boot Building scalable, maintainable microservices aligned with enterprise standards Developing modern APIs and supporting cloud-based solutions Working with CI/CD tooling including GitLab, Jenkins, and SonarQube Collaborating with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy secure applications Applying engineering best practices including TDD/BDD, code quality, and effective branching strategies Working within Agile teams alongside

developers, testers, and technical leads What theyre looking for: Essential: 2+ years commercial experience as a Java Developer Strong experience with Java (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot Understanding of microservices architecture and modern API development Exposure to cloud platforms, ideally AWS Knowledge of secure software development and DevOps practices Experience working within Agile engineering teams Must be SC clearable (minimum 5 years continuous UK residency) Desirable: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling The Package: £40,000 £55,000 base salary Bonus scheme Private medical cover Pension contribution Career development opportunities TPBN1_UKTJ
