Software Engineer (Backend Java) Newcastle 3 days on-site £40,000 £55,000 + bonus A leading technology consultancy is seeking a Software Engineer to join a growing engineering function delivering secure, scalable services for major public-sector and enterprise programmes. This is a hands-on development role suited to someone with strong Java fundamentals and a desire to build high-quality software in a highly regulated environment. What youll be doing: Designing and developing Java services using JDK 11+ and Spring Boot Building modular, maintainable microservices aligned to enterprise and security standards Working with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, and SonarQube Collaborating with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy into secure cloud environments Applying software engineering best practices (TDD/BDD, branching strategy, code quality) Contributing to agile ceremonies and working closely with technical leads and testers Key Skills & Experience Essential
