Job description

Summary: The main function of a Network Analyst is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. A typical network engineer is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades. Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning, design, and installation of routers, switches, or other network components
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the following: spanning tree, routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), VLAN technologies, WAN protocols.
  • Conduct network troubleshooting using network protocol analysis tools such as Wireshark.
  • Possess good working knowledge and experience in planning, design, installation, and support of LAN (Ethernet, Gig-Ethernet).
  • Possess good working knowledge and experience in Industrial Control Systems (ICS) protocols such as: CONITEL, DNP, Modbus and 68150.
  • Possess good working knowledge of cybersecurity.
  • Possess good NERC-CIP knowledge and SME (Subject Matter Expert) during audits.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer activities with peers or other support groups.
  • Responsible for vendor comparisons as needed.
  • Maintain network drawings.
  • Provide testing for new network hardware and software solutions.
  • Accountable for adhering to Change Management process for network related incidents.
  • Participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as member of technical team on selected large-scale substation networking projects.
  • Provides support, testing, troubleshooting for all business applications.
  • Utilize intelligent network management tools to isolate problems or improve network performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 5-7 years experience required
  • Network/systems administration/related work experience required
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification a plus
  • Knowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storage
  • Knowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software
