Job description

Lead Network Cabling Technician to oversee and perform the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of structured cabling systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to manage projects while mentoring installation teams.

This position requires a motivated professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead crews on commercial and government structured cabling projects.
  • Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and network drawings.
  • Install cable pathways including conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, ladder rack, and raceways.
  • Install telecommunications rooms, racks, cabinets, patch panels, and network equipment.
  • Perform copper and fiber certification testing using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot network cabling and connectivity issues.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, test reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate daily work with project managers, customers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within quality standards.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians.
  • Maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment.

Requirements

Required

  • Minimum 5 years of structured cabling experience.
  • Previous experience leading installation crews.
  • Strong knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and structured cabling best practices.
  • Experience installing and terminating:
  • Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A
  • Single-mode and multi-mode fiber
  • Patch panels
  • Network racks and cabinets
  • Experience using Fluke cable certification testers and fiber testing equipment.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Fiber optic certifications.
  • Experience working on federal, military, or Department of Defense projects.
  • Experience with access control, CCTV, or wireless installations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
