Job description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Lead to support a data engineering project and AI adoption program. This role will work closely with a Technical Project Manager and coordinate activities across business, data engineering, platform engineering, analytics, cloud, and AI teams.
The Project Lead will be responsible for project planning, requirements gathering, business analysis, deliverable tracking, risk management, status reporting, and implementation support for moderate to complex technology initiatives., * Coordinate technical projects involving data engineering, cloud platforms, analytics, and AI adoption.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, timelines, and success measures.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, charters, status reports, and supporting documentation.
- Track project deliverables, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions, and action items.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including data engineers, developers, architects, analysts, vendors, and business partners.
- Support data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics initiatives.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and financial status reporting.
- Communicate technical information clearly to business leaders, executives, and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Support platform engineering and data pipeline initiatives in cloud and enterprise environments.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with business objectives, technical standards, security requirements, and data governance expectations.
- Identify project risks and proactively coordinate corrective actions.
- Prepare project closure documentation, lessons learned, and implementation reports.
- Work independently while managing multiple priorities and complex project timelines.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading enterprise data, analytics, cloud, data architecture, and data warehousing projects. Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional leadership skills are essential., * Active Project Management Professional certification is mandatory. The PMP certification must be clearly listed on the resume.
- At least 10 years of experience leading technical projects or programs involving data, analytics, cloud platforms, or enterprise technology.
- At least 10 years of experience leading data architecture, data modeling, or data warehousing initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Experience managing business intelligence, big data, and analytics projects in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience defining project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, deliverables, and success metrics.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, project dependencies, and complex implementation schedules.
- Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and financial status reporting.
- Working knowledge of SQL, databases, data systems, cloud platforms, or enterprise applications.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.
- Strong documentation skills, including project plans, schedules, charters, status reports, and lessons-learned documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to business and executive audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineers, developers, architects, analysts, vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Current residence in the Austin, Texas area.
- Availability to work onsite every Wednesday and Friday.
- Availability to attend an in-person interview.
Preferred Qualifications
- Eight or more years of experience in healthcare or another regulated industry.
- Experience supporting healthcare data initiatives.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as FHIR, CCDA, or HL7.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance, information security, data privacy, and data governance.
- Knowledge of information management principles, IT processes, system architecture, enterprise technologies, and the software development life cycle.
- At least three years of experience supporting AI, machine learning, advanced analytics, or digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong consulting, stakeholder-management, and meeting-facilitation skills.
- Customer-focused communication skills and the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Additional certifications such as PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, TOGAF, Cloud Solution Architecture, Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Experience Level
This is a senior-level position requiring extensive experience and sound professional judgment. The successful candidate must be able to independently plan and complete complex assignments while demonstrating creativity, leadership, and flexibility.
