Job description
- Kong Engineering: Implement, configure, integrate, validate, and troubleshoot Kong Enterprise and Kong Konnect components, plugins, policies, routes, certificates, and runtime groups.
- Developer Portal & Governance: Configure Kong developer portal capabilities, self-service onboarding integration points, and API catalog publications.
- Automation & GitOps: Develop and maintain GitOps and configuration-as-code artifacts (e.g., decK) within Government-owned CI/CD environments.
- Migration & Dual-Run: Support migration wave preparation, test execution, defect resolution, rollback validation, and dual-run troubleshooting.
- Telemetry & Enablement: Integrate gateway telemetry and logging with monitoring platforms (Prometheus/AppDynamics/ELK) and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.
Requirements
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of API platform or integration engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of hands-on Kong (Kong Gateway Enterprise and/or Kong Konnect) experience in production environments.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of Kong plugins, declarative configuration, decK, GitOps workflows, and OpenAPI specifications.
- API security integration: OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, and rate limiting.
- Kubernetes or OpenShift-based gateway deployment patterns.
- Clearance & Security:
- Must possess U.S. work authorization.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Moderate Risk Public Trust (MBI level) background investigation.
Benefits & conditions
- Target Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000 / year (Note: Final offer is subject to candidate experience and expectations), * Salary & Contingency Confirmation: State your expected salary range and confirm your availability for a contingent start in November 2026.
