Job description

  • Kong Engineering: Implement, configure, integrate, validate, and troubleshoot Kong Enterprise and Kong Konnect components, plugins, policies, routes, certificates, and runtime groups.
  • Developer Portal & Governance: Configure Kong developer portal capabilities, self-service onboarding integration points, and API catalog publications.
  • Automation & GitOps: Develop and maintain GitOps and configuration-as-code artifacts (e.g., decK) within Government-owned CI/CD environments.
  • Migration & Dual-Run: Support migration wave preparation, test execution, defect resolution, rollback validation, and dual-run troubleshooting.
  • Telemetry & Enablement: Integrate gateway telemetry and logging with monitoring platforms (Prometheus/AppDynamics/ELK) and conduct knowledge transfer sessions.

Requirements

  • Experience:
  • At least 5 years of API platform or integration engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on Kong (Kong Gateway Enterprise and/or Kong Konnect) experience in production environments.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Strong knowledge of Kong plugins, declarative configuration, decK, GitOps workflows, and OpenAPI specifications.
  • API security integration: OAuth 2.0 / OIDC, mTLS, JWT validation, and rate limiting.
  • Kubernetes or OpenShift-based gateway deployment patterns.
  • Clearance & Security:
  • Must possess U.S. work authorization.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Moderate Risk Public Trust (MBI level) background investigation.
