Job description

Working within a high-performing Risk Reporting team, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing and supporting enterprise-grade Power BI semantic models, dashboards and reporting solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Power BI architecture, performance optimisation and automation within complex, data-driven environments. Key Responsibilities as a Power BI Developer

  • Design and develop enterprise-scale Power BI reports, dashboards and scorecards.
  • Build and maintain semantic models using dimensional modelling best practices.
  • Develop advanced DAX calculations, calculation groups and performance optimisation techniques.
  • Implement Incremental Refresh strategies and semantic model partitioning.
  • Optimise refresh performance, query efficiency and large-scale dataset management.
  • Develop and support Python-based automation processes for semantic model refreshes.
  • Integrate Power BI with orchestration and scheduling frameworks.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), governance controls and access management.
  • Support Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity management.
  • Troubleshoot refresh failures, gateway issues and performance bottlenecks.

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise semantic models.
  • Advanced DAX, semantic modelling and Power BI performance tuning expertise.
  • Strong understanding of VertiPaq, composite models, aggregations and query optimisation.
  • Hands-on experience implementing Incremental Refresh and dataset partitioning.
  • Experience using XMLA endpoints, Tabular Editor and DAX Studio.
  • Strong SQL and dimensional modelling knowledge.
  • Experience working with large-scale analytical platforms.
  • Strong Python scripting experience supporting automated Power BI refresh processes.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Power BI REST APIs and administration.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Power BI Premium and/or Microsoft Fabric.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within Financial Services or Risk Reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake integration for Power BI.
  • Experience with enterprise scheduling platforms such as Control-M.
