Job description

  • Design and develop enterprise-grade Power BI reports, dashboards and scorecards
  • Build and maintain large-scale semantic models using dimensional modelling best practices
  • Develop advanced DAX calculations, calculation groups and optimisation strategies
  • Implement Incremental Refresh and semantic model partitioning
  • Optimise dataset refresh performance and query execution
  • Develop Python-based automation processes for semantic model refreshes
  • Integrate Power BI with orchestration and scheduling frameworks
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS), governance controls and access management
  • Support Power BI Premium and Microsoft Fabric environments
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, gateway issues and refresh failures
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
  • Extensive experience developing enterprise-scale semantic models
  • Advanced DAX development and performance tuning expertise
  • Strong understanding of VertiPaq, aggregations, composite models and query optimisation
  • Experience implementing Incremental Refresh and dataset partitioning
  • Experience with XMLA Endpoints, Tabular Editor and DAX Studio
  • Strong SQL and dimensional data modelling skills
  • Python scripting experience supporting automated reporting processes
  • Experience with PowerShell and Power BI REST APIs
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience working with Power BI Premium and/or Microsoft Fabric

Desirable Experience for a Power BI Developer

  • Financial Services or Risk Reporting experience
  • Experience consuming Snowflake data within Power BI
  • Knowledge of Control-M or enterprise scheduling tools
  • Exposure to Azure Data Platform technologies
