Job description

As a Business Services Information Officer, you will join a friendly, motivated and professional team committed to providing excellent customer service to colleagues across the department and Council, including senior management and Members.

Requirements

The key component of the role consists of administering, managing and coordinating the department’s Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Subject Access requests. You’ll be confident working with senior managers; work well under pressure; have great attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills; and appreciation of working according to national regulations and towards statutory deadlines., * NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications and/or demonstrable experience supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) functions and / or service information management.

  • Understanding of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and information management principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in a professional working environment.
  • Experience of conducting research, analysing information from a range of sources, maintaining accurate electronic records and producing clear, evidence-based responses and reports.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and provide advice and support to colleagues as well as senior managers and elected members.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload, work accurately under pressure and consistently meet challenging deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and wider IT systems, with the ability to use technology to improve efficiency, maintain data accurately and adapt to new systems and processes.
  • A collaborative and proactive team member who can work independently with minimal supervision, handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
