Job description

Maintains the computing environment by identifying network requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring network performance., * Break-fix:

  1. Visually inspecting devices to assess equipment status
  2. Rebooting routers, servers, storage devices or other equipment
  3. Providing loop-back cables in order to test circuits remotely
  4. Re-seating or replacing components or cables
  5. Removing Alternating Current (“AC”) or Direct Current (“DC”) power from equipment
  6. Cleaning equipment or connectors
  7. Connecting a client-provided test set or test router to equipment
  8. Swapping removable storage media
  9. Installing or replacing modular equipment components
  10. Dispatching equipment for repair
  11. Cleaning fibers
  12. Taking light levels
  13. Installing loop backs
  14. Providing planned maintenance or circuit migration support
  15. Installing Small Form Factor Pluggable (each an “SFP”) or Gigabit Interface Converters (each a “GBIC”)
  16. Troubleshooting hardware problems on any device
  17. Racking and de-racking of any device installed
  18. Labeling/inventory equipment plus digital picture and serial number recording
  19. Tape backup: cassette exchange and storage in strongbox
  20. Power cycling a router, server, switch and soft-booting a server
  21. Follow Data Eradication process Provisioning:

  22. Install cables or optics for new circuits
  23. Re-connect, disconnect / replace existing circuits
  24. Testing of cables and optics Deployment:

  25. Physical Cabling
  26. Cable Management
  27. Northbound Cabling (Fiber/Copper/Power)
  28. Rack/Stack/Jack
  29. Installation Support (PDU, Network Switches, etc.)
  30. E-Waste and other clean-up activities

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a network administrator role
  • Hands-on experience in networking, routing and switching
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of server infrastructure
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies
  • Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking
  • CCNA, Network+, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE or equivalent
  • BSc degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from three-year College or technical school with an emphasis in electronics required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
