Job description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Process Design Engineer to join our Product Development team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of innovative cooling and heat exchanger support systems. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects within a global organisation, focusing on product transfers, cost optimisation initiatives, and product innovation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Design and develop cooling distribution units (CDUs), pump skids, and mechanical plant room solutions.
  • Create, review, and optimise Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Conduct technical analysis of industrial system designs, focusing on heat exchanger support systems.
  • Collaborate with Global Solutions Engineering teams and customers to develop application-specific solutions.
  • Design products suitable for global manufacturing and multiple production locations.
  • Generate and implement design-to-cost initiatives across international manufacturing sites.
  • Support and manage global product transfer projects.
  • Execute engineering changes and product updates across multiple locations.
  • Work closely with supply chain, production engineering, quality, HSE, and manufacturing teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Manage project deliverables to agreed timelines, ensuring structured and effective execution.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and continuous improvement activities during initial manufacturing phases.
  • Undertake or support Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis when required.
  • Represent the business during customer meetings, site visits, and collaborative engineering projects.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety-first culture in all engineering activities.

Requirements

  • Experience in process, mechanical, or product design engineering.
  • Strong understanding of industrial system design principles.
  • Ability to create and interpret P&IDs.
  • Experience designing complex engineered products and systems.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and global teams.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis tools is advantageous.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
