Job description

Are you a Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience and a passion for turning concepts into high-quality manufactured products?

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer based in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist business where you’ll play a key role in the design, development and ongoing support of bespoke engineered products from concept through to manufacture and installation.

Working closely with Sales, Production, Suppliers and Customers, you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate design solutions, supporting manufacturing processes and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards., As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Producing detailed approval drawings for customer review and manufacture
  • Creating and issuing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Supporting the Sales team with technical enquiries and design solutions
  • Providing technical support to production teams and suppliers
  • Liaising with customers regarding design for manufacture requirements
  • Resolving design and manufacturing queries throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assisting with product development and continuous improvement activities
  • Supporting assembly and installation teams with technical information
  • Preparing technical documentation and compliance files where required
  • Ensuring drawings and design documentation are delivered in line with project deadlines

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, CAD Design or similar engineering discipline
  • Strong experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD
  • Sheet metal design and fabrication experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Understanding of airflow principles and calculations
  • Knowledge of UKCA/CE technical documentation and compliance requirements
  • Experience carrying out engineering design calculations
