Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT professional to provide high-level technical support across a complex healthcare environment, delivering 2nd and 3rd line support to clinical and corporate users.

Working as part of the Trust’s Technical Support Team, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, security and performance of critical IT systems that support the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

The Role

As a Technical Support Analyst, you will provide specialist technical support, advice and guidance across the Trust’s IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support to NHS users across a range of IT systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, network and infrastructure issues.
  • Supporting Microsoft server environments, Windows operating systems and Active Directory services.
  • Managing system monitoring, capacity and performance, proactively identifying potential issues.
  • Supporting server builds, rebuilds, patching and security updates.
  • Assisting with backup, restoration and recovery procedures.
  • Supporting anti-virus and endpoint security solutions across Trust systems.
  • Providing technical support for networking technologies including LAN, TCP/IP and connectivity services.
  • Supporting Citrix environments and virtualised systems.
  • Working with suppliers, contractors and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Producing technical documentation, reports and user guidance materials.
  • Providing support and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced Technical Support professional with:

  • Proven experience providing 2nd and 3rd line IT infrastructure support.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Windows Server and desktop environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level systems and applications.
  • Good understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, LAN and connectivity.
  • Experience supporting hardware, printers, software applications and user devices.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on service delivery and customer support.

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous to have experience with:

  • NHS IT environments or other large, highly regulated organisations.
  • Citrix administration.
  • SQL Server and database support.
  • Backup technologies and disaster recovery processes.
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCP, MCSE or equivalent.
  • Supporting clinical or business-critical applications.
