Job description

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of BookMaker, StoryTerrace’s core platform for creating client books, and supporting its evolution to accommodate new product capabilities and production requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining a robust, reliable production system by writing clean, maintainable code and continuously improving existing functionality.
  • Build and improve product features that streamline and scale the content production process, reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.
  • Develop AI-assisted content creation capabilities and improve the consistency, structure, and reliability of outputs to meet internal quality standards.
  • Work across the stack to design and implement end-to-end solutions, spanning backend services, APIs, and frontend user experiences.
  • Enhance the usability and accessibility of the platform, enabling more efficient workflows across different and new devices or use cases.

Requirements

  • Solid experience building full-stack JavaScript applications, with good working knowledge of Node.js, Express, React, and MongoDB/Mongoose.
  • Enjoys hands-on coding and is execution-focused, with a strong track record of delivering features end-to-end.
  • Comfortable working within an existing codebase and contributing across both frontend and backend components.
  • Able to take ownership of tasks and move them from concept to implementation while delivering reliable, production-ready outcomes.
  • Strong ability to translate product requirements into practical working solutions, delivering impact quickly.
  • Experience building and maintaining features in systems with real production constraints, including integrations, background jobs, and evolving workflows.
  • Interest in applying AI and automation in product environments, ideally with some hands-on experience integrating LLMs or similar tools.
  • Pragmatic engineering mindset, able to balance speed, simplicity, and maintainability without over-engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity while continuing to make progress.
  • You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams alike.

  • Rate: £4,000 per month
