Job description

You will work directly with the founding team to develop secure backend services, application workflows, APIs, databases, and product infrastructure. This person will play an important role in transforming the existing product pilot into a scalable, reliable, and integration-ready platform.

This is an early-stage position with meaningful influence over architecture, engineering practices, product direction, and the future technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain core backend services and APIs.
  • Develop secure workflows for wellness, wearable, operational, and research data.
  • Design scalable relational database schemas and data models.
  • Establish role-based access controls for officers, clinicians, command staff, researchers, and administrators.
  • Support frontend-to-backend integration across the platform.
  • Build systems that properly distinguish individual, aggregated, de-identified, and unavailable data.
  • Implement testing, logging, monitoring, documentation, and deployment processes.
  • Participate in architecture decisions, code reviews, and technical planning.
  • Collaborate with product, integration, privacy, security, and clinical contributors., Signal Haven Intelligence is a pre-seed company currently developing its Phase 1 pilot. This is a remote, equity-based founding-team opportunity for someone who is comfortable contributing to an early-stage company before institutional funding or recurring revenue. The initial arrangement is expected to be structured as a part-time founding-team or fractional engagement. There is currently no guaranteed salary or cash compensation. Future paid compensation may become available following fundraising, revenue generation, or other company milestones, but it is not guaranteed. Equity amount, vesting schedule, responsibilities, expected time commitment, and any future transition to paid employment will be discussed transparently and documented in a written agreement before work begins. All equity arrangements will be subject to company approval, formal corporate documentation, applicable securities requirements, and vesting terms.

Requirements

  • Experience building backend or full-stack web applications.
  • Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, or a comparable modern language.
  • Experience designing APIs and working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Understanding of authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure data handling.
  • Experience deploying applications to cloud environments.
  • Ability to work independently in an early-stage environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Healthcare, public safety, government, wellness technology, or regulated data.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
  • Audit logging and role-based access control.
  • HIPAA-aligned or privacy-sensitive system development.
  • Startup or founding-team experience.
