Job description

Matlen Silver is actively recruiting for a Windows Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to work for our client’s Active Directory Identity Services Engineering team to ensure the availability, security, resilience, and operational excellence of enterprise identity platforms. This role acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for Active Directory, identity tooling, and cloud identity services and works closely with engineering, security, and platform teams to design, operate, and continuously improve identity reliability.

The Engineer will lead efforts to detect, remediate, and prevent identity-related vulnerabilities, eliminate non-permitted or non-standard technologies, and embed automation and reliability engineering principles into identity services across on-prem and multi-cloud environments.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Active Directory architecture, replication, DNS, trusts, GPOs, and security hardening.
  • Experience with AD backup, recovery, forest/domain restoration, and incident response.
  • Experience applying SRE principles to infrastructure platforms (availability, resilience, observability).
  • Strong understanding of Identity Access Management (IAM) including authentication, authorization, federation, and privileged access.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure (Entra ID) identity and security services.
  • Experience identifying and remediating identity-related vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and legacy tools.
  • Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience with Identity Threat Detection Response (ITDR) concepts.
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions (e.g., vaulting, session monitoring).
  • Secrets management and key management systems.
  • Policy-as-Code and configuration compliance frameworks.
  • Experience integrating identity platforms with CI/CD and platform engineering teams.

Benefits & conditions

$65 - $70 an hour - Contract
