Job description
Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based backend applications supporting mission operations. Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot Solr and/or Elasticsearch environments for high-performance search capabilities. Perform schema updates and implement search enhancements. Develop and optimize complex Lucene queries to improve search accuracy and efficiency. Manage and tune Solr/Elasticsearch shards for scalability, resilience, and performance. Develop solutions within large-scale data environments using technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, PySpark, and HBase. Participate in code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment of production-ready software. Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders to deliver innovative technical solutions.
Requirements
3+ years of intermediate to expert-level experience with Solr or Elasticsearch, including: Schema design and updates Advanced Lucene query development Sharding architecture and optimization Performance tuning and query optimization 3+ years of experience working in big data environments utilizing technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, PySpark, and/or HBase (experience with at least two preferred). 5+ years of hands-on backend Java development experience (JavaScript and Spring Boot experience alone does not satisfy this requirement). Demonstrated experience developing production software through code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and deployment. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience, if applicable). TS/SCI Full Scope Polygraph requred
