Job description

We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to support a mission-critical federal law enforcement environment. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise server and workstation environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience administering Windows-based infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, maintaining data integrity, and supporting operational continuity in a highly secure setting., * Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems on servers, workstations, and web servers.

  • Perform software installations, upgrades, patch management, and configuration updates for operating systems and associated software applications.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute system upgrades in accordance with established IT policies, security requirements, and change management procedures.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and resource utilization, implementing tuning and optimization measures as needed.
  • Ensure integrity, availability, and security of system data through proper administration practices and technical controls.
  • Develop, implement, and manage backup and recovery strategies, including system backups and database archive operations.
  • Conduct routine testing of backup and restoration procedures to support disaster recovery and continuity requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and enhance standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and administrative processes.
  • Perform hardware and software audits to verify compliance with configuration standards, cybersecurity requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware assets, software inventories, licenses, configurations, and supporting documentation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system, server, and workstation issues to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and engineering teams to ensure systems remain secure, compliant, and optimized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of experience administering enterprise server and workstation environments.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server and Windows desktop operating systems.
  • Knowledge of system administration best practices, patch management, and configuration management.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
  • Ability to analyze system performance and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance required., * Experience supporting federal government or law enforcement environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, security hardening, and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, Server+, Microsoft, VMware, or related industry certifications.
