Job description

As a Test Lead, you’ll play a critical leadership role in guiding utilities through the strategy and execution of enterprise testing programs for large-scale customer information system (CIS) implementations. You’ll work closely with client project leaders, E Source project managers, and cross-functional delivery teams to ensure testing is disciplined, effective, and aligned to real utility business outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of utility operations, enterprise technology, and quality assurance, and who brings strong judgment and structure to complex, high-stakes implementation programs.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and own testing program strategy for CIS implementations, including defining testing phases, governance, sequencing, and objectives.

  • Develop detailed, phase-specific test plans with clear entry and exit criteria, readiness activities, execution management, and defect remediation processes.

  • Plan, organize, monitor, and oversee all phases of enterprise testing, including conversion, functional, integration, bill-to-bill, performance, and user acceptance testing.

  • Educate, guide, and lead client testing teams on testing objectives, scope, and best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with project managers and delivery teams to ensure business and technical testing requirements are met.

  • Create and maintain testing documentation and deliverables for both manual and automated testing efforts.

  • Adapt E Source’s NavigateOne testing methodology to meet client-specific project needs.

  • Develop and maintain testing processes, procedures, metrics, and reporting.

  • Lead preparation of business scenarios, test scripts, and required master and transactional data for end-to-end testing.

  • Facilitate test status meetings, escalate risks and issues as appropriate, and provide actionable insights to project leadership.

  • Monitor defects and issues for trends, providing data-driven metrics and recommendations.

  • Oversee test team execution to ensure timely testing, accurate documentation, effective defect management, and successful retesting.

  • Provide oversight of test automation activities and resources, when applicable.

Requirements

  • Have a strong understanding of CIS business processes within utility companies, and how to validate that CIS solutions are meeting the functional and non-functional requirements of a business process.

  • Are an expert in OpenText ALM and Quality Center, and are able to administer these solutions in support of an integrated, multi-phase testing effort.

  • Are comfortable navigating complex, large-scale implementation environments.

  • Can translate detailed testing activities into clear progress, risks, and recommendations for project leadership.

  • Bring a structured, disciplined approach to quality and governance.

  • Work effectively across technical, functional, and business teams.

  • Care deeply about testing quality, clarity, and real-world client outcomes.

  • Have strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

And even better if you:

  • Have hands-on functional experience with CIS implementations.

  • Bring experience across the full project lifecycle, from initiation through post-implementation.

  • Have worked with or around utilities, regulated environments, or large enterprise system programs.

  • Have experience with automation tools, scripting languages, or test framework design.

Experience and Skills to Qualify Include:

  • 8+ years of experience leading and managing testing for large CIS implementations or upgrades, including at least two full-cycle projects.

  • Experience with utility CIS platforms and testing activities in regulated utility environments.

  • Experience using testing tools such as Quality Center/ALM and Business Process Testing (BPT).

  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and multiple testing methodologies.

  • SQL skills for data validation, analysis, and reporting.

  • People-management experience, including coaching, staffing, and performance oversight.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), engineering, mathematics, business, or equivalent practical experience., Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. We’re unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.
