Job description

The Buyer I supports the buying and procurement function by expanding product selection, setting up new vendors and items, maintaining the product catalog, and managing pricing. This role plays a key part in new product launches, coordinating closely with engineering, product development, and supply chain partners to turn early-stage concepts into real, tangible solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence sourcing strategies and design decisions, navigate complex supply chain challenges, and build scalable procurement strategies in a high-volume, global operations environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Buying Team in expanding product selection by identifying, setting up, and onboarding new vendors and items.
  • Maintain the product catalog, ensuring accurate and up-to-date product cost, retail pricing, content, and images.
  • Manage pricing activities, including monitoring and updating product costs and retail prices in alignment with procurement and business objectives.
  • Coordinate new product launches, working closely with engineering, product development, and supply chain partners to support sourcing, timelines, and execution.
  • Support and maintain vendor relations, acting as a point of contact for vendors and helping resolve issues related to orders, pricing, and product information.
  • Assist with special projects related to procurement, supply chain optimization, and product introduction programs as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup to the Control Buyer, providing support and training as needed to ensure continuity of buying and inventory control activities.
  • Manage and execute procurement needs for new product introduction programs, ensuring materials and components are sourced on time and within budget.
  • Use ERP systems, preferably Oracle EBS or SAP, to create, manage, and track purchase orders and inventory-related data.
  • Leverage Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Apply supply chain and purchasing knowledge to support inventory planning, procurement decisions, and process improvements.
  • Work in a highly demanding but collegial environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners and contributing to a culture of teamwork and mutual respect.

  • 1+ years of experience in a high-volume, global procurement and operations manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing and executing procurement needs for new product introduction programs.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle EBS); SAP experience is also valued.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Basic SQL skills for data querying and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, purchasing, procurement, and inventory planning.
  • Experience working with purchase orders and ERP-based purchasing workflows.
  • High level of organization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in product data, pricing, and procurement documentation.
  • Solid computer literacy and comfort working with data management tools and databases.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding, collaborative environment where teamwork and agility are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results, act with customer obsession, and invent and simplify processes in line with leadership principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle EBS as the primary ERP system is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP platforms is beneficial.
  • Exposure to global robotics or advanced technology operations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data management concepts and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed procurement and sourcing decisions.
  • Ability to influence design and sourcing strategies through collaboration with engineering and product development teams.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and solving complex supply chain challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional partners in engineering, product development, and operations.

Work Environment

This role operates within a global robotics and operations context, working at the intersection of innovation and execution to support cutting-edge technology and new product launches. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product development, supply chain, and other cross-functional partners in a highly demanding yet collegial environment that values collaboration, ownership, and agility. The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
