Local Area Network Technician

Responsible for the organization’s local area network needs, including the installing, maintaining, and updating relevant hardware and software.

Essential Job Duties

· Serve as the initial point of contact for technical support inquiries via phone, email, or ticketing system.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to hardware, software, network connectivity, and peripherals.

· .Provide timely and effective resolution to technical problems while adhering to established service level agreements (SLAs).

· Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate IT personnel or third-party vendors, as necessary.

· Document necessary support interactions, including the nature of the problem and the steps taken to resolve it.

· Maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.

· Assist in the setup, configuration, and deployment of end-user hardware and software.

· Collaborate with other members of the IT team to identify recurring issues and develop long-term solutions.

· Keep abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in IT support.

· Associate degree or high school diploma with some additional continuing education through certification program and some relevant experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· CompTIA A+ certification is preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

· Proven experience in a help desk or technical support role.

· Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and common business software.

· Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.

· Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-centric mindset.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

· Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) are advantageous.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

Occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
