Job description
The candidate will provide programmatic and analytical support to the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) N2N6 Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Branch on matters related to Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) and the Global Positioning System (GPS). Support includes programmatic oversight and coordination of issues related to PNT and GPS capabilities, including Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE) Precise Time and Astrometry (PTA) initiatives. The candidate will assist in representing Navy positions and interests in Joint, interagency, and international forums. The candidate will support Navy planning for future PNT systems, including the development, evaluation, and transition of emerging technologies and associated acquisition strategies. Responsibilities also include supporting the assessment of emerging threats to DoD PNT capabilities, including threats to GPS and alternative PNT systems, and assisting in the formulation of plans to ensure the continued resilience and operational viability of these systems. This includes evaluating impacts associated with civil, commercial, and international use of PNT capabilities. The candidate will support the N2N6 U.S. representative to NATO Capability Panel 2 (Navigation) on navigation-related issues. Support activities include preparation of briefings and materials, logistical coordination, and administrative support for semiannual NATO PNT meetings conducted both within CONUS and internationally. Additional responsibilities include:
- Participating in the investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of alternatives supporting Navy PNT acquisition programs and resource management efforts for shipboard, submarine, and aviation platforms.
- Assisting N2N6 in identifying transition challenges associated with new PNT capabilities and developing mitigation strategies and transition plans to support successful fielding and integration. Location Pentagon
Requirements
Candidates shall possess a minimum of a Masters’ degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college. Demonstrate 10 years DOW and DON policy experience and 5 years Space Based PNT and GPS systems policy experience including budgeting, development, acquisition, architecture, and planning
Qualifications Candidate possesses working knowledge of GPS and alternate sources of Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT).
Required US Security Clearance TS/SCI eligibility. Prior Navy with Pentagon experience Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work in a team setting in a high-tempo environment is essential, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
