Job description

Buckley Cable Construction is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Project Controls & Operations to support and grow our Florida operations. This position will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational processes while providing leadership and support to our Project Administration and Invoicing teams.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive background working on the contractor side of the CATV and telecommunications construction industry, with a thorough understanding of Outside Plant (OSP) operations, customer expectations, project controls, billing, documentation, and field execution. This individual must be capable of developing scalable processes, improving operational efficiency, mentoring employees, and partnering with Operations leadership to drive successful project delivery.

This is a Florida-based leadership position requiring regular travel throughout the state to conduct in-person training, mentor employees, build strong teams, and ensure operational consistency across all projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in CATV and telecommunications construction on the contractor side.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience managing operations, project controls, project administration, or construction management teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) construction, including aerial, underground, and fiber optic network construction.
  • Strong understanding of MSO customer requirements, project lifecycle management, billing, change orders, as-built documentation, production tracking, and project closeout.
  • Demonstrated success developing and implementing operational processes that improve efficiency, consistency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience supporting high-volume telecommunications construction projects for major MSO providers such as Comcast, Charter/Spectrum, Cox, Altice, or similar.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop administrative and operational teams while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Must reside in Florida and be willing to travel throughout the state to support training, team development, and operational oversight.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using construction management and project tracking systems., * Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Experience implementing operational workflows, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and performance metrics.
  • Experience leading multi-office or multi-market telecommunications construction operations.
  • Lean process improvement or continuous improvement experience is a plus.
