Job description

  • Highly skilled Senior Zscaler Resident Engineer to provide dedicated engineering support for Geisinger’s enterprise security environment.
  • This individual will serve as the primary technical resource responsible for the administration, optimization, and ongoing support of the Zscaler platform while partnering closely with Security, Infrastructure, Networking, and End User Computing teams.
  • Possess deep hands-on experience with Zscaler technologies, strong network security expertise, and the ability to provide both operational support and strategic guidance within a large enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and support the Zscaler platform, including ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, and DLP.
  • Perform day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, issue resolution, and platform optimization.
  • Design, implement, and maintain security policies, access controls, and traffic forwarding configurations.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize custom DLP policies, dictionaries, and data classification rules.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and provide technical recommendations aligned with Zero Trust and enterprise security best practices.
  • Evaluate new Zscaler capabilities and recommend enhancements to improve security, scalability, and user experience.
  • Support cloud security initiatives, including AWS and Service Edge integrations.
  • Analyze platform performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimization and operational improvements.
  • Partner with Geisinger and Zscaler Support to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Participate in project planning, change management activities, and technical strategy discussions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and configuration standards.
  • Provide knowledge transfer, mentoring, and technical guidance to Geisinger’s engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of enterprise Network and Security Engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering enterprise Zscaler environments.
  • Strong experience supporting:
  • Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA)
  • Zscaler Private Access (ZPA)
  • Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX)
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
  • Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles.
  • Strong understanding of network security concepts, including firewalls, proxy technologies, SSL inspection, DNS, TCP/IP, routing, and Secure Web Gateway (SWG) technologies.
  • Experience integrating Zscaler with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, Okta, or other identity providers.
  • Experience supporting cloud networking environments, preferably AWS.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within ITIL-based change management processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders., * Zscaler certifications (ZCCA, ZCCP, or ZCCE).
  • Experience with AWS networking and cloud security.
  • Experience with SASE/SSE and Zero Trust architectures.
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender, CASB, or SIEM technologies.
  • Scripting experience using PowerShell or Python.
  • CISSP, CCNP Security, or other relevant security certifications.

  • Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and influence architecture decisions.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
