Requirements

Are you an embedded software engineer looking for a unique opportunity to develop new and highly desirable skills?

A leading business in the field of navigation and autonomy, based in Newcastle, is taking a proactive and innovative approach to address the shortage of engineers with VHDL and FPGA experience. They are offering an exceptional in-house training and development programme to help strong embedded software engineers learn and master VHDL, FPGA, and Xilinx technologies.

This is a hybrid role in Newcastle, paying £45,000 - £55,000, and represents a genuine chance to gain a sustainable, future-proof skillset that is both niche and in high demand. KO2, with 18 years of recruitment experience, have rarely seen such a forward-thinking approach to tackling the skills shortage in this area.

The company are leaders in navigation and autonomy, and they understand the limited number of dedicated VHDL and FPGA specialists available. Their solution is to invest directly in their people and the wider electronics community in Newcastle by training embedded software engineers internally in VHDL, FPGA, and Xilinx. This is an opportunity not only to join a cutting-edge business but to grow your skills in a field that commands excellent long-term pay and career prospects.

Applicants should have experience in embedded software development, ideally working within embedded systems environments. You will have strong skills in embedded software design and C/C++ low-level programming onto microprocessors and embedded micros. An understanding of hardware interaction, debugging, and real-time embedded systems is desirable.

The business will, of course, also consider those who already have VHDL and FPGA experience and are looking to further develop these skills in a high-technology environment focused on Xilinx platforms.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Embedded software experience developing on embedded systems
  • Strong C/C++ low-level programming onto microprocessors and embedded micros
  • A solid understanding of embedded systems principles
  • A passion for embedded software and a desire to expand into VHDL, FPGA, and Xilinx development
  • A willingness to learn and grow in an intensive in-house training programme
  • An interest in applying embedded software techniques to hardware-level design

If you are an embedded software engineer who wants to move your career into VHDL, FPGA, and Xilinx development, this is the perfect opportunity to take that step.
