Job description

  • Execute elements of GNB quality manual/procedures pertaining to the inspection of materials.
  • Assist in maintaining/improving/developing the inspection program
  • Perform in-process inspections including dimensional verification, additional product testing as required; maintain records of inspections and results. Verify finished product dimensions are conforming to drawings and work order specifications.
  • Perform visual inspections of welded joints (weld size, bead formation, weld penetration) of work in progress and of completed parts for compliance to detect flaws (cracks, cold weld, spatter, and undercuts, etc.) using flashlight and magnifying glass when required.
  • Assist in inspecting and releasing of received raw materials, supplied components, supplied products, finished GNB products after ensuring compliance to ALL (drawings, PO, WO, Specifications, Standards, MTR, etc.) requirements both dimensionally and documentation wise.
  • Assist with calibration of all inspection instruments and gauges and update records.
  • Assist with inspection First Articles and complete/submit documentation.
  • Review material test reports (MTR) as required.
  • Assist with the training of production employees.
  • Conduct auditing in both products and processes and prepare findings report as required.
  • Communicate and interact with shift supervisors, operations manager, engineering, purchasing, production control and other quality personnel about quality related issues and perform other duties as required and as per direction from management.
  • Other duties as assigned., * Frequently push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Work in extremely hot or cold environments
  • Work in extremely dusty environments
  • Work in extremely noisy environments
  • Work in environments with dangerous and/or objectionable fumes with exposure to fumes from:
  • Metals that include aluminum, antimony, arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, silver, tin titanium, vanadium, zinc
  • Gases that include argon, helium, nitrogen, carbon dioxide
  • Welding processes that include nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, phosgene, hydrogen fluoride, carbon dioxide
  • Galvanized material

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand, kneel, crouch, bend, and reach frequently.
  • Work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.
  • Handle steel components and fabrication tools.
  • Wear PPE including gloves, face protection, and steel-toed-boots.
  • Work around cranes and moving equipment.
  • Work in environments with dangerous and/or objectionable fumes with exposure to fumes.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Windows?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * High School Diploma

  • Experience in a manufacturing/steel fabrication environment is preferred.
  • Computer literacy of Microsoft Windows software such as Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Working knowledge of welding processes for carbon steel
  • Familiarity with ASTM specifications, CWB, and AWS/ASME welding codes desired.
  • Good understanding of shop math (fraction to decimal) and ability to read tape measure, and measuring tools (caliper, micrometers) preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints desired.
  • Good written and oral communication skills required.
  • Good problem-solving capabilities are desired.
  • Must be able to work independently, efficiently and be self-motivated and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check, * Drug Test and Background Check
