Job description

The post holder is responsible for leading and managing Digital & Technology projects and the project team on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for driving and overseeing their delivery to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints.

The post holder has a key role in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed outputs are delivered and accurately reported utilising the Agency’s PPM tool, to ensure appropriate controls are in place to enable benefits realisation.

Projects may follow waterfall and/or agile methods of delivery ensuring a fit for purpose approach appropriate to requirements for the desired solution.

The Agency’s default tool for supporting portfolio, programme and project delivery is Verto. Other tools such as Jira and Confluence are also utilised to support agile delivery.

Requirements

  • Experience of end-to-end digital and IT projects across a variety of complex projects using different delivery methodologies and frameworks.

  • Experience in setting up projects with the correct governance, to ensure risks and issues are reported accurately and assurance is provided to senior stakeholders and governance boards.

  • Experience of financial management, demonstrating your ability to forecast accurately and manage delivery against agreed budgets.

  • Familiarity with GDS Technical and Service standards.

  • Familiarity with the Government Project Delivery Functional Standard, which sets expectations for the direction and management of portfolios, programmes, and projects in government, is desirable.

  • Degree relevant to requirements or equivalent; or one or more of the following:

o Prince 2 Practitioner with Agile

o Agile project management practitioner

o APM Practitioner Qualification
