Job description

The Software Development Manager leads the development function to deliver secure, scalable and high-quality software solutions that support business growth and customer needs. This role blends technical leadership, people management and delivery oversight, ensuring engineering practices, team capability and product delivery remain aligned to strategic objectives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Strong technical background in SQL Server.
  • Experience of enterprise-scale application development.
  • Proven experience leading and developing software engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, agile delivery methodologies and DevOps principles.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering complex software solutions in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, delivery planning and balancing technical priorities with business needs.

Desirable

  • Background in C# and .NET.
  • Experience working with financial, accounting or other business-critical systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD environments, automated testing and modern release practices., * A confident and credible leader with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical, commercially aware and comfortable making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • A pragmatic problem-solver with a strong focus on delivery, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Resilient, collaborative and capable of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on leadership.
