Job description

QBE Europe is recruiting a Data Modeller to join the EO Data & Analytics function. This role supports the ongoing transformation of Data, Analytics and AI by providing critical expertise across our data domains (including finance, actuarial, and claims), ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment with strategic initiatives., * Lead the design and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models

  • Contribute to end-to-end solution design activities, ensuring data architecture and data products align with business and technology objectives

  • Define and enforce data modelling standards and best practices

  • Ensure alignment between current-state and target-state architecture

  • Maintain deep understanding of curated and provisioned data layers

  • Identify and mitigate data design and solution design risks

  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to define scalable and maintainable solution patterns

  • Ensure models and solutions support scalability, performance, security, and regulatory requirements

  • Enable faster, more reliable delivery of data products and business capabilities

Strategic Programme Enablement

  • Provide data modelling and solution design leadership for strategic initiatives such as Insurance Core Platform (ICP) and Finance Modernisation

  • Support programme teams with solution options, impact assessments, and design decisions

  • Reduce design risk, rework, and onboarding time across programmes

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with and encourage good collaboration with Data Architecture, Engineering, Group Data Office, business stakeholders, and programme delivery teams

  • Translate business requirements into robust data models and solution designs

  • Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing subject matter expertise on data structures, integration patterns, and information management

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in enterprise data modelling (Data Vault, dimensional, etc.)

  • Strong knowledge of insurance data domains (Finance, Claims, Actuarial preferred)

  • Experience contributing to solution architecture and solution design within large-scale data platforms

  • Experience working on large transformation programmes

  • Ability to operate as both:

  • Hands-on modeller

  • Strategic advisor and solution design contributor

  • Strong understanding of data integration, data product, and analytical solution patterns

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, Analytical Thinking, Big Data Engineering, Critical Thinking, Customer Service, Customer Strategy, Data Engineering, Data Fusion, Data Modeling Techniques, Data Science, Intentional collaboration, Machine Learning (ML), Managing performance, Process Improvements, Risk Management, Scrum Methodology

The Data Modeller is responsible for defining, governing, and evolving enterprise data models across QBE’s core data platforms. The role also contributes to solution design activities, ensuring that business requirements are translated into scalable, maintainable, and strategically aligned data solutions that support QBE’s target architecture.
