Manager Access Center

The Manager of the Access Center provides operational oversight ensuring daily operations are efficient, compliant, and are safely executed. Manages a team of skilled nurses and clinical employees whose role responsibilities in system bed management, patient transfer and patient referral process impact the entire enterprise. Stays abreast of the changes affecting system level bed management, inter-facility patient transfers, medical transport, and maintains an appreciation of the impact of the Children’s Health transport dispatching and patient transfer operations has on the community and others within the healthcare system. Leads all aspects of the Access Center operations including the design and implementation of new programs, processes, and functions within the center. Understands, practices, and holds self and peers accountable for implementing evidence-based leadership practices and principles of a just culture. Models Children’s Health leadership values and is effective in managing in a highly matrixed organization., * Managing Daily Operations: Understands, adheres to, and holds direct reports responsible for hospital policies and procedures, transfer and transport regulatory requirements and industry standards in medical communication, transfer, and dispatching process for medical transport of patients

• Provides oversight for staff who are managing the intake, transfer (external and internal) and referral process in regard to all aspects of bed management at the Dallas and Plano campuses.
• Establish, maintain, and monitor team composition and staffing schedules to meet demands for service with appropriate, safe, cost-effective resources
• Work closely with the senior leadership of the Access Center, including the Medical Director to promote the effectiveness of all members working in the Access Center
• Actively manage the quality assurance program specific to the Access Center members by establishing, implementing, and updating processes that monitor team performance and provide feedback that increases teamwork, develops employees professionally, ensures adherence to safe practices and service excellence
• Ensure principles of family-centered care are understood and implemented by team members
• Monitor daily operations for safe practices, analyze data and qualitative information and address issues as close to the occurrence as possible while formulating plans to prevent recurrence of undesired processes and / or outcomes
• Coordinate communication equipment issues including problems, repairs, and in-servicing staff
• Manage day-to-day issues that arise with direct reports and other employees in the Access Center as well as other areas of the hospital
• Contribute to risk management objectives through the timely completion of incident reports and the creation and implementation of follow-up plans
• Responsible for manager-on-call duties for the Access Center and available to leadership of Transport and the Access Center as needed, including during off shifts
• Complete personnel activities in a timely manner that reflects the leadership values of the organization; and Safeguard Children’s fiscal resources and establish a culture of fiscal responsibility within the department
• Planning: Implement plans that ensure Children’s Transport department becomes the pacesetter for safe, high-quality neonatal and pediatric medical transport at the national level in regard to transport team dispatch functions
• Assures superior outcomes by requiring that direct report practices are grounded in proven, evidence-based best practices
• Effectively lead and collaborate with other leaders, in the development of quality improvement processes related to the Access Center and Transport Services Dispatch to ensure services that meet the current and future needs of the organization
• Review quality metrics with the leadership team and makes recommendations for improvements to processes based on an analysis of the information and identification of trends.
• Lead quality improvement processes related to patient and family-centered care and the transfer process, including bed management
• Work with educators and team leaders to develop staff training and development plan for staff
• Stay abreast of regulatory requirements relevant to the dispatching medical transport teams, interfacility transfers and air medical communication standards and bed management
• Implement a program of ongoing regulatory readiness that includes evidence of compliance
• Disseminate and report quality indicators at the department level and make recommendations for changes or improvements to the current processes based on analysis of reported metrics
• Ensure each team member understands and implements practice changes in accordance with regulatory agency recommendations and national patient safety goals, as well as current hospital policies and procedures and the goals of the Access Center
• Ensure Access Center staff maintains current certifications and requirements to perform duties.

Do you have experience in Working with children?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree in nursing?, * At least 3 years Related experience, which includes EMS, Transport, hospital and Access Center experience (experience must include pediatrics) Required

• At least 5 years Previous leadership experience or demonstrated skill required Required, * Four-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
• FEMA 100 and 200 within 180 days of hire Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Texas Upon Hire Required
• Current State of Texas EMT-Paramedic certification Preferred
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Required
• Certified flight communicator 180 Days Required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification Upon Hire Required
