Job description

Network Maintenance: Performing regular updates, patches, and repairs to local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranet systems to minimize downtime.

Installation & Configuration: Setting up hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, as well as installing related software.

Security Management: Monitoring for vulnerabilities, configuring security permissions, and implementing firewalls or VPNs to protect against cyber threats.

Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues, server glitches, or hardware failures, often providing technical support to end-users.

Monitoring & Optimization: Collecting performance data to identify bottlenecks and evaluating capacity needs to ensure the network can handle traffic demands.

Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of network layouts, IP addresses, configurations, and incident logs for future reference.

Requirements

Education: Most employers seek a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, though an associate degree with relevant experience is often acceptable.

Certifications: Professional credentials such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Microsoft Certified professional are highly valued.

Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and familiarity with various hardware vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).

Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, effective communication to explain technical concepts to non-IT staff, and the ability to work under pressure during outages., * Bachelor’s (Preferred)
