Job description

As a Senior Program Manager within GitLab’s Enterprise Technology organization, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional technology programs that advance our enterprise IT strategy. You will serve as a trusted advisor and program execution partner to IT leadership, translating strategic objectives into structured roadmaps and measurable outcomes., * Own end-to-end program management for large-scale or high-complexity Enterprise Technology AI initiatives, including scope definition, roadmap development, resource planning, and delivery tracking.

  • Define and communicate clear success metrics for each program, reporting status and risk to Enterprise Technology AI leadership on a regular cadence and escalating issues with recommended paths forward.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of underlying problems, desired outcomes, and solution trade-offs.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by facilitating decision-making, resolving dependencies, and maintaining momentum across distributed teams.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to program governance frameworks, intake processes, and ways of working across the CIO organization.
  • Translate complex technical and business requirements into clear, actionable work plans accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Anticipate risks and interdependencies across the portfolio, proactively mitigating blockers before they impact delivery.
  • Model GitLab values and remote work best practices, contributing to a high-trust, async-first team culture.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of program management experience, with a strong track record delivering large, cross-functional Enterprise Technology AI programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex processes and build structured approaches to ambiguous problems.
  • Experience influencing without authority, earning trust with senior stakeholders, and driving alignment across functions, including Finance, Legal, Sales, and Product.
  • Comfortable operating at both a strategic level and in the details, switching between executive communication and hands-on program execution as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting program status, risks, and recommendations to leadership and executive audiences.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise IT domains such as business systems, data, AI, security, infrastructure, or enterprise architecture (depth in one or more areas preferred).
  • Proficiency with program and project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or similar); PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Experience working in a remote, globally distributed environment with a bias toward async collaboration and clear documentation.
