Job description
Alpine Business Consulting specializes in fixing enterprise performance management and reporting systems that have been poorly implemented. Often, a company invests in complex planning tools only to find that the data is messy and the implementation cut corners. We are currently supporting a Berlin-based technology firm that requires a total overhaul of its internal reporting data to ensure their finance teams can work with numbers they actually trust. As a Junior Data Quality Analyst, your task is to help us turn a cluttered data environment into a single source of truth. This is a full-time, permanent position that is fully remote, allowing you to work from your own environment while supporting our senior consultants. The role We are not interested in corporate fluff or flashy presentations that hide underlying system issues. We care about whether the numbers match at the end of the month. Our Berlin-based technology client needs a reliable system, and your job is to help build it by verifying the integrity of their data. You will spend your time looking at data sets, identifying inconsistencies, and helping us document the rules that keep the system running. This is an entry-level role intended for someone who wants to learn how data systems actually work in the real world rather than just studying theory. You will be a core part of the team, ensuring that the migration from old, messy spreadsheets to new, structured environments happens without losing data integrity. What you will do
- Review large sets of data to find duplicates, missing entries, or incorrect formatting that could break a report.
- Help senior consultants map data from legacy systems into new Oracle or SAP environments.
- Maintain detailed configuration guides so the client knows exactly how their data is handled once we leave.
- Verify that financial reports reflect the underlying data accurately during the testing phase.
- Assist in creating documentation that helps client teams remain independent after our work is done.
- Participate in remote team meetings to discuss project progress and specific data blockers.
- Test data validation rules to ensure they catch human errors before they reach the final dashboard.
- Update project logs to track which data issues have been resolved and which still require investigation.
Requirements
- A basic understanding of data structures and how relational databases work.
- Familiarity with Excel, including lookups and basic formulas, or introductory knowledge of SQL.
- A healthy skepticism for data that looks too clean or too consistent without verification.
- Clear communication skills, specifically the ability to explain a technical data error in plain English.
- Willingness to learn about Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) tools like Oracle or SAP.
- A disciplined approach to remote work, including reliable time management and proactive communication.
- Attention to detail that allows you to spot small discrepancies in large datasets.
- Completion of a degree or certification in data science, finance, or a related field.
Benefits & conditions
What we offer
- A fully remote work environment where your output matters more than your physical location.
- Direct mentorship from senior consultants who have spent years fixing complex enterprise systems.
- A permanent position with a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry-level professional.
About the company
- Exposure to high-stakes projects for significant technology firms in the European market.
- A culture that values documentation, clean data, and predictable results over late-night heroics.
- Practical experience in system configuration and data migration that is hard to find in a classroom.
- The opportunity to see a project through to a successful handover, knowing the client is set up for success.
Working at Alpine Business Consulting We believe in transparency and predictability for both our consultants and our clients. We provide fixed-price quotes wherever possible and prioritize documentation that a client team can actually use long after we are gone. Our goal is to hand over a system that works reliably and then step back, ensuring the company has the training and configuration guides needed to remain independent. This approach requires our team to be honest about what the data shows, even when the news is not what a client wants to hear. If you prefer a workplace that values technical accuracy and clear results over corporate jargon, you will find our team to be a good fit. We focus on providing a single source of truth that finance teams can trust every morning, and that starts with the quality of the data you help us manage.
