Job description
The Research & Planning Division serves in a general research capacity for the entire agency, therefore the range of duties cover all ICJI divisions and research needs. The Research Analyst serves as the intermediary between the Division Directors and the Research Division and works to provide project direction and guidance. The Research Analyst is also responsible for working with Division Directors to promote the goals of research and data collection and aid in developing strategies for implementing research and technology initiatives., * Assists with transferring raw data to the appropriate location for use in data analysis projects.
- Utilizes existing documentation and guidance from senior staff to wrangle, clean, and validate agency data sources.
- Contributes to general analysis of agency datasets.
- Conducts data quality checks to ensure the validity and cleanliness of agency datasets prior to their use in analysis and reporting.
- Interprets data and from multiple sources using a variety of analytical techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to data mining, to supporting statistical methodologies.
- Develops compelling data visualizations to communicate findings to target audience(s).
- Adheres to HIPAA, PII, PHI and other state statutes concerned with protecting data confidentiality and individual privacy.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
Requirements
- Experience with data manipulation, including cleansing, standardizing, and transforming.
- Knowledge of statistical software, open-source programming languages, and database querying or demonstrated ability to learn.
- Experience with SQL, Tableau, R, Python, PowerBI, and/or ArcGIS.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Broad knowledge of data analysis, analytics, or statistics or demonstrated ability to learn.
- Ability to work in a team environment with multiple and fluid demands.
- Ability to maintain effective and professional working relationships with internal and external customers.
A degree is not required. However, at least 2+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
