Job description

Peraton is seeking a Linux / Windows Monitoring Engineer to support USPS enterprise monitoring and incident response operations in Eagan, MN. This role will focus on administering and improving monitoring across Linux and Windows environments, supporting incident response workflows, maintaining dashboards, and using automation to improve operational visibility and alerting., * Administer and support Zabbix monitoring across Linux and Windows servers, applications, and infrastructure services

  • Configure and maintain AppDynamics dashboards, health rules, and alerting
  • Support additional dashboarding platforms as required
  • Support Everbridge integrations and manage notification workflows
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting for AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud services
  • Develop Python scripts to automate monitoring tasks, enhance alert context, and generate reports
  • Perform Linux and Windows troubleshooting related to monitoring agents, connectivity, resource utilization, and service health
  • Participate in incident triage and post-incident reviews
  • Create, maintain, and improve runbooks, monitoring standards, and operational procedures
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for application-related problem resolution
  • Work independently with minimal guidance and strong ownership
  • Communicate technical findings clearly and maintain strong documentation, * Zabbix

Clearance & Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Position of Public Trust
  • Must pass client-mandated drug screening, criminal background check, and credit check
  • Business casual dress code required

Additional Notes

  • Supports USPS enterprise monitoring operations
  • Strong fit for candidates with monitoring, NOC, SRE, infrastructure operations, Zabbix, AppDynamics, and Python experience
  • Periodic on-call rotation required

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, AppDynamics, Everbridge, cloud monitoring platforms, and Python scripting, along with strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills., * Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of IT experience OR

  • 7+ years of IT experience without a degree
  • Must be eligible for a Position of Public Trust
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Must have resided in the U.S. for the past 5 years
  • Cannot have more than 6 months of international travel within the past 5 years, excluding U.S.-based work travel or military service
  • 3+ years of experience in IT monitoring, NOC operations, SRE support, infrastructure operations, or related monitoring tools
  • 1+ year of experience with cloud monitoring in AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • 1+ year of hands-on Python scripting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with and integrating REST APIs
  • Experience with AppDynamics or other APM platforms
  • Experience with Everbridge or similar incident notification tools
  • Experience with ticketing system integrations and ITSM workflows
  • Familiarity with monitoring-as-code practices
  • Experience with version control systems
