Job description

The Centralized Scheduling Specialist is responsible for validating completeness and accuracy of account information. Also responsible for responding expeditiously to patient inquires and initiating the registration process prior to the arrival to BMH. Specialist must demonstrate the highest work ethic, values affirmed in the behavioral standards, and mission of Beaufort Memorial Hospital. General summary of duties include:

  • Scheduling of procedures
  • Obtaining precert/pre authorization from physician offices and insurance companies
  • Entering information into Meditech and various bolt on technologies
  • Obtaining accurate demographic and financial data on patients prior to the patient appointment through phone, fax and web inquiries

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred

Experience:

  • Prefer at least two years of experience in general hospital related setting, good customer service skills, proficient in written and verbal communications, possesses ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public, and prefer a minimum of two years of experience in a business environment or a health care institution.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
