Job description
The Senior OT Cybersecurity Implementation Engineer Secure File Transfer is responsible for leading the field deployment, implementation, and operationalization of secure file transfer and managed file transfer (MFT) solutions across enterprise and Operational Technology (OT) network environments. OT includes plant, factory, industrial, and manufacturing systems where controlled file exchange directly affects safety, uptime, and business continuity. This role establishes secure, auditable, and controlled methods for transferring files into mission-critical environments, reducing cybersecurity risk associated with vendor updates, engineering changes, portable media, firmware updates, and operational data exchanges.
This is a deployment and program execution role focused on implementing an established solution across multiple sites. The engineer serves as the on-site technical coordinator and primary technical point of contact for the deployment, bridging cybersecurity, plant engineering, infrastructure, operations, and vendors. Success requires a versatile professional who is credible with both technical and non-technical audiences, can lead multi-site rollouts, and can drive consistent standards and adoption across diverse operational environments., * Lead the deployment and operationalization of secure file transfer / MFT solutions across manufacturing facilities and operational sites.
- Deploy and configure virtualized server appliances in accordance with established engineering and security standards.
- Support deployments spanning Enterprise, Industrial DMZ (iDMZ), and Mission Critical OT network zones, respecting Purdue Model boundaries and controlled data-flow direction.
- Coordinate on-site installation and configuration activities across infrastructure, cybersecurity, plant engineering, and operations teams.
- Support implementation of content inspection controls, including malware and multi-engine scanning, Content Disarm and Reconstruction (CDR), sandboxing, and file validation, per defined security policy.
- Enable secure transfer processes for engineering changes, vendor and firmware updates, portable media, and operational data exchanges.
- Serve as the technical liaison and primary point of contact for secure file transfer capabilities across sites, vendors, and cybersecurity teams.
- Develop deployment schedules, site readiness assessments, and implementation plans; support phased rollouts and apply lessons learned across facilities.
- Facilitate technical workshops, operational training, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge-transfer sessions with plant personnel and local site support teams.
- Support integration of solution logging and alerting into cybersecurity monitoring and incident response processes.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, support documentation, architecture diagrams, and deployment standards.
- Track deployment progress, issue resolution, and operational adoption metrics; support continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, industrial/manufacturing technology, or OT environments, including experience leading or coordinating multi-stakeholder technical deployments.
- Proven ability to communicate with and influence engineers, operations personnel, plant leadership, and external vendors.
- Working technical literacy across enterprise networking, server infrastructure (Windows Server; basic Linux), and virtualization concepts, sufficient to lead deployments and troubleshoot at a coordination level.
- Strong project coordination, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to travel approximately 50% and to work on active manufacturing floors, including completion of site safety training and use of required PPE.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet site access and eligibility requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Network experience is a strong plus, including familiarity with segmentation, firewall rule management, routing/switching, VLANs, DNS, and validating connectivity and data paths across segmented environments.
- Hands-on experience with secure file transfer, managed file transfer (MFT), or file security and content inspection technologies.
- Administration experience with Windows Server, Linux, SQL databases, and virtualized appliance deployments.
- Familiarity with iDMZ architectures, the Purdue Model, and controlled OT data-flow design.
- Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity standards such as IEC 62443 or NIST SP 800-82.
- Experience in large-scale, multi-site enterprise environments.
- Automotive or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Security or networking certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, GICSP, or CISSP.
