Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Network Operations Specialist to oversee and maintain our organization’s complex network infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our network systems, supporting both internal teams and external clients. Join us to be a vital part of a fast-paced, innovative team committed to delivering exceptional network performance and support., * Support, grow, and maintain network applications, according to AcenTek and industry standards for the purpose of providing reliable and high-quality services to AcenTek Subscribers. Tasks may include support, maintain, and configure VoIP Soft Switch, Session Boarder Controllers, and VoIP application servers; support, maintain, and configure Video Head-End equipment, middleware, and encryption servers; support, maintain, and configure Internet DHCP servers, PE routers and BNG equipment; troubleshoot and support wholesale video, voice, and internet services from third party providers; respond to raised alarms according to company protocol and provide resolution along with outage feedback when appropriate; create and update documents and procedures that aid in maintaining network applications.

  • Respond to service orders, repair tickets, and questions for the purpose of installing, changing, or repairing network access and network applications. Tasks may include the installation and repair of the following network elements: ethernet circuits for AcenTek customers and ISP related services, fixed wireless and wireless point to point networks, subscriber access networks and circuits including Ethernet, GPOn, xDSL; customer premise equipment (CPE) including optical terminals, xDSL modems, Ethernet, and wireless access equipment; managing customer network solutions. Other level three support tasks may include: update subscriber account and plant records, response and closing of work tickets, perform CPE software upgrades, communication with customers, internal departments, and contractors to ensure satisfactory results regarding the installation and repair of subscriber services.
  • Maintain network infrastructure for the purpose of ensuring a reliable, high-quality network where high speed, low latency applications can be delivered. Tasks may include repair and replace failed hardware and performs software upgrades on network elements; maintain core transport networks including Ethernet, MPLS, SONET, DWDM and TDM; maintain proper route infrastructure via OSPF and BGP, as well as maintaining external eBGP and peering relationships with partners; maintain network access equipment including DSLAM, ethernet, and passive optical network elements; maintain customer Access Platforms including xDSL, GPON, Active Fiber, Fixed Wireless, T1, POTS, and VoIP; Maintain DC power plant including batteries, rectifiers, inverters, associated cabling and distribution systems; respond to raised alarms according to company protocol and provide resolution along with outage feedback when appropriate; create and update documents and procedures that aid in maintaining network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in computer networking with a strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), VLANs, QoS, and network security principles.
  • Hands-on knowledge of networking equipment including routers, switches, ASA firewalls, Meraki devices, and Cisco ISE for policy management.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi or Citrix environments for server management and high availability solutions.
  • Experience supporting diverse operating systems including Windows Server environments, Linux distributions like Debian or CentOS, Ubuntu, openSUSE, BSD variants, macOS, and Solaris.
  • Ability to perform system administration tasks involving Active Directory integration, GPO management, DHCP/DNS configuration, LDAP authentication systems, and system hardening techniques.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or Azure for hybrid cloud connectivity and resource management.
  • Skilled in scripting for automation purposes using Bash or PowerShell along with experience in DevOps practices for continuous integration/deployment pipelines.
  • Strong background in network security assessments utilizing tools like Splunk or SolarWinds for monitoring vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with security standards.
