Manager, Software Engineering

United Parcel Service General Services Co. seeks Manager, Software Engineering in Parsippany, NJ:

Job Duties: Design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate computer software that provide business capabilities, solutions, and/or product suites. Provide systems life cycle management (e.g., analyses, technical requirements, design, coding, testing, implementation of systems and applications software, etc.) to ensure delivery of technical solutions is on time and within budget. Research and support the integration of emerging technologies. Provide knowledge and support for applications’ development, integration, and maintenance. Develop program logic for new applications or analyze and modify logic in existing applications. Analyze requirements, tests, and integrates application components and ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented. Define application complexity drivers, estimates development efforts, creates milestones and/or timelines, and tracks progress towards completion. Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers. Directly manages subordinate supervisors or a team of employees who apply conceptual and theoretical expertise. Accountable for the performance and results of a team within area of specialty. Part-time telecommuting is an option. Hybrid work from UPS office in Parsippany, NY.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or its foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering (any field), or a related quantitative discipline, and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in any occupation in related field.

Special Skill Requirements: (1) Manage third-party SOWs, SLAs, and performance; (2) Provide executive dashboards and portfolio health reports; (3) define value hpotheses, KPIs, and sucess metrics; (4) Run intake and triage processes; (5) Balance capacity against demand to ensure resources and finances are allocated efficinetly across the entire portfolio.
